Along side her Daughter, Diane

Helen Sage, Owner/Interior Designer

worked for the C.A. Hoitt Furniture Co . for over 40 years.

After over a 100 years in business, the company closed it's doors for good in 2013.

Helen, a Manchester, NH native had always dreamt of opening a Home furnishings

& gift shop and started considering the possibility.  Her love for decorating & styling

homes is in her blood.

In June, 2015, a rare opportunity opened up in The Langer Place Mill Complex...an old converted mill building, in theHistoric District of Downtown Manchester and the dream space was now available.

Helen grew up knowing and loving the beauty, character and nooks & crannies of these old buildings...her dad worked in these old mills for many years and she knew it would make the perfect backdrop for her shop.

The space was light and airy, Loft style design with it's expansive 15 ft ceilings, gorgeous original hardwood floors and floor to ceiling windows flooding the space with natural light all day long.  It just felt right.

Her daughter Diane, a Professional Photographer, had a studio in the same building for over 18 years. One day they decided to merge their creative talents and energy into a cozy place that you could come to for inspiration, ideas and design elements that could be created in your own space.  The lofty, open air shop was stylish with unique furniture, accessories, and lighting, along with a curated style gift shop with unusual and speciality gift ideas.

The name comes from the space being an open Loft style space, located at

55 So. Commercial Street.

In 2018, after the building was sold and all tenants needed to vacate the building,

Loft Fifty 5 set up a pop up shop at 25 South River Road, Bedford, NH.  At first it was only going to be a temporary location but then ended up being the permanent home

for the shop and that is where the shop is located currently.
